Medical Effect

The HBOT patient is placed in the hyperbaric chamber, which is compressed with 100% oxygen at up to 4 ATA. At the pressure inside the chamber, additional oxygen is dissolved in blood plasma of the patient. This facilitates healing and recovery processes and treatment of diseases caused by an insufficient amount of oxygen supplied to body tissues. Hyperbaric treatment is increasing all around the world. Various types of monoplace and multiplace hyperbaric chambers are used.

The choice is determined by treatment objectives and protocols. In multiplace chambers all patients undergo the same treatment simultaneously. Monoplace chambers allow individualized treatments according to each particular patient’s treatment requirements. They are easier to install and much less expensive compared to multiplace chambers in terms of operating staff and setting up different support and auxiliary systems.

HBOT Indications

HBOT method is used as a primary as well as an adjunctive treatment combined with conventional surgical, drug, and radiations therapies. HBOT significantly reduces recovery time. Initially hyperbaric medicine was used for diseases caused by diving accidents such as gas emboli and decompression illness. Subsequent research set the ground for use of hyperbaric chambers for treatment of a wide range of disorders. This method was broadly accepted worldwide for many years but received a special recognition with the medical community in the last four decades due to the wide acceptance of a new generation of monoplace chambers. This has made hyperbaric medicine increasingly available to the public.
